The Fundamentals of Materials and Operations Management program offers an exciting classroom-based, instructor-led, educational opportunity for people new to materials and management operations-or people working in positions that interact with this field.

Participants gain practical, essential skills that help them become more effective and productive in their jobs. The four-module format of the course teaches basic concepts, techniques, and terminology.

For professionals aspiring to APICS certification, Fundamentals establishes a solid entry-level base of knowledge upon which to build. The information below will enable you to view each of the four modules of Fundamentals based on your area of interest.

  • Fundamentals of Inventory Control introduces participants to essential vocabulary and skills identifying and applying the basic principles of inventory management.

  • Fundamentals of Planning teaches participants the principles of effective planning.

  • Fundamentals of Manufacturing Control details priority and capacity management through the use of material requirements planning.

  • Fundamentals of Operations Management maps out the relationship between goods and services and the operation of the systems.

Cycle Counting Workshop

This 1-day seminar covers the reasons for cycle counting, who, what, when, and where of cycle counting. It details how some companies are doing and details what their achievements have been. This seminar will familiarize the attendees with the reasons for cycle counting and give them tools to aid their counts.

Training And Communication Workshop: "Train The Trainer"

This highly acclaimed program was developed by APICS to provide training for their instructors. The advantages include training your own people, when and where you like, and realizing significant savings on the related cost. It has the fringe benefits of developing employees’ communication and leadership skills, especially poise and self-confidence. This interactive workshop teaches preparation of instructional objectives and lesson plans, and techniques of communications & presentations for highly motivating and successful training experiences. Some topics include:

  • Motivation of learners
  • Use of a variety of visual aids
  • Public speaking techniques
  • Dealing with questions and answers

In this intense format, the participant will actively prepare and present training lessons. Unlike many formats, students will actually be videotaped, with playbacks thoroughly reviewed professionally critiqued. Keeping this tape, they can add to it to review and chart their progress, and continue to hone their skills.
